In a decisive move to reshape policing strategies and deepen reform within the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun on Tuesday,, held a strategic conference with senior officers from the rank of Commissioner of Police upwards.
The meeting, held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, focused on strengthening proactive policing approaches, adapting to evolving security threats, and prioritizing officers welfare.
Addressing the officers, Egbetokun emphasized that modern policing must be driven by intelligence, technology, and accountability.
He urged all Commands and Formations to intensify efforts in public safety operations, share success stories, and remain ahead of emerging criminal trends.
“Leadership in the Force is not ceremonial—it is earned through decisive, life-saving actions that protect our nation,” he declared.
The IGP unveiled a two-month operational scorecard, highlighting the arrest of 5,488 suspects, recovery of 316 firearms and 2,884 rounds of ammunition, rescue of 170 kidnapped victims, and retrieval of 216 stolen or unregistered vehicles across the country.
He praised the sacrifices and discipline of officers, calling their work the bedrock of national security.
Egbetokun also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to comprehensive welfare reforms for both serving and retired personnel, stressing that boosting morale is essential for sustained operational excellence.
The conference ended with a shared resolve by senior officers to embrace innovation, deliver results, and reinforce public trust in the Force’s mission to secure lives and property across Nigeria.
