It was a Friday in Lagos. Danlandi, a fun lover, wanted to entertain two friends who were visiting him from outside the city. So, he took them to one of the popular red-light districts in Lagos.
They were looking for a lady to join them for a threesome. There, they met a young lady, Adeola. But the deal was not properly negotiated.
Danlandi and his friends drove Adeola to his residence in Ikeja GRA. It was only when they arrived that she realised they expected her to join the three men. She demanded a better offer, but they could not agree on the N50,000 she requested.
Since the arrangement had fallen through, Danlandi offered her N10,000 for transport back to the place where he had picked her up.
That should have been the end of the matter.
It was not.
Unknown to Danlandi, Adeola had taken his ATM card from the car. While Danlandi was making the transfer for her transport fare, she also obtained his PIN.
By Saturday morning, Adeola was already in Abeokuta. She was a mother of one and had reunited with her husband.
She reportedly told him that he had hit the jackpot.
What followed was a shopping spree.
Adeola took her husband and son shopping. By Saturday night, they had spent about N1.7 million through ATM withdrawals and online purchases.
The spending continued on Sunday. The debits eventually rose above N2 million.
Before Danlandi realised what was happening, Adeola had depleted more than N2 million from his account.
Distraught, Danlandi reported the matter to the police.
The police began tracing the ATM withdrawals. Their investigation eventually led them to the person making the transactions.
It was then that Danlandi realised how the suspect had gained access to his account.
Using technical leads from the transactions, the police traced Adeola to Abeokuta, where she was arrested alongside her husband.
But by then, there was little left to recover.
The items reportedly recovered from Adeola included phones, clothes, a bicycle and shoes.
For Danlandi, what began as an attempt to entertain his friends ended with a loss running into millions of naira.
For Adeola and her family, a weekend shopping spree ended with an arrest.
The lesson is simple: even when embarking on a shenanigan, never let your guard down.
A moment of carelessness can turn an evening of pleasure into a costly lesson.
