The Lagos State Government has restated its commitment to strengthening public safety through citizen-driven security strategies, as it convened a stakeholders’ meeting to evaluate the findings of the People’s Perception Survey on Security Formations and their impact on lives and property.
Speaking at the event held at the Debt Management Office in Ikeja, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Kadiri Semiu described the survey as a strategic feedback tool designed to guide inclusive governance and evidence-based security planning.
“This survey gives voice to the people and enables us to assess the true impact of our security investments at the grassroots level,” he said, noting Lagos’s ongoing prioritisation of security infrastructure and community engagement.
Kadiri cited recent initiatives such as the donation of over 300 security vehicles through the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) and other interventions aimed at enhancing security formations.
He emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration—particularly among community leaders, civil society, and law enforcement agencies—to sustain public trust and responsive policy implementation.I
n her keynote address, delivered by Mr. Alao Oluwaseyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, described the survey as a vital policy instrument.
“Security is the bedrock of development. Without it, economic growth, social cohesion, and investor confidence suffer,” she stated.
She highlighted major reforms under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, including the deployment of surveillance drones, bulletproof equipment, and an upgraded Command-and-Control Centre to ensure real-time emergency response and data-driven decision-making.
