The Oba of Lagos and Permanent Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, has called on the Federal Government to urgently equip the Nigeria Police and other security agencies with modern tools to effectively combat rising insecurity across the country.
Oba Akiolu made the call on Saturday while receiving the National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Dr. Elizabeth Egbetokun, at his Iga Idunganran Palace on Lagos Island.
“The task of policing is herculean,” the revered monarch said. “I urge the Federal Government to provide police and other security agents with the necessary logistics to support their work. Security personnel, including the NDLEA and NAFDAC, are trying their best, but without proper support, their efforts will be limited.
”He commended the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Moshood Jimoh, for introducing innovative strategies to curb crime and encouraged him to continue orienting his officers on civility and integrity.
“Continue lecturing your boys to be good and civil. Don’t corrupt your position. Always tell the people the truth,” he advised
