The Nigeria Police Force has taken custody of fugitive suspect Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun, who was arrested by the Ghana Police Service after fleeing Nigeria following the abduction and suspected murder of a female FRSC officer and her young daughter in Osun State.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed on Monday that the suspect was handed over to INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja in Accra after a coordinated intelligence-led operation involving both countries.

“The Ghana Police Service, acting on credible intelligence, arrested the suspect within their jurisdiction and immediately notified the Nigeria Police Force. Our INTERPOL NCB Abuja operatives proceeded to Accra to finalise the handover, and the suspect is now in our custody,” Hundeyin said.

He added that the multi-agency collaboration demonstrated the growing strength of international partnerships in tackling transnational crimes.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commiserated with the bereaved family and assured that the case would receive a comprehensive and conclusive investigation. The suspect, he noted, will be charged to court upon completion of the investigative process.

Hundeyin reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to bringing offenders to justice, regardless of distance or borders.
“The Nigeria Police will continue to strengthen international cooperation to ensure that criminals find no safe haven anywhere in the world,” he added.
