The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion to facilitate repair works on the damaged pedestrian bridge at Tincan First Gate, Apapa, inward Mile 2.
The Ministry of Transportation disclosed in a statement posted on its official X handle on Wednesday that the repair exercise is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, between 9am and 1pm, and will be executed in two phases.
According to the ministry, Phase One will involve the lifting and placement of bridge beams, during which the road from Tincan, Apapa to Mile 2 will be completely closed for about 20 minutes. Traffic flow will resume immediately after the beam-lifting operation is concluded.
In Phase Two, which entails the lifting and installation of bridge slabs, traffic from Tincan, Apapa to Mile 2 will continue to move, but vehicles will be diverted to a single lane approximately 50 metres before the work area.
Full access will be restored 50 metres after the construction zone, while traffic from Mile 2 to Tincan, Apapa will move freely throughout the phase.
The ministry advised motorists to remain patient and cooperate with traffic officials, noting that the temporary full and partial closures are necessary to ensure the safe execution of the repairs by the Federal Ministry of Works through the Office of the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos.
