The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Uyo, noting that the arrests were made on Friday, November 7, 2025, at about 8:00 p.m. following credible intelligence.
According to the statement, two of the suspects — Akan Udo (40) of Ikot Edem Udo Village and Namso Monday (20) of Ikot Umo Essien Odoro Ikot Village — were apprehended at a native doctor’s residence in Ikot Ineme Village while receiving treatment for undisclosed ailments.
The third suspect, identified as Mbata Udo (40) of Ikot Ukpong Offiong Village, was later arrested in connection with the same armed robbery incident during the course of the investigation.
A comprehensive search, the statement added, led to the recovery of one locally made pistol, one locally made revolver, 16 machetes, six mobile phones, two generators, one battle axe, a plier, and other incriminating items.
John further revealed that the native doctor suspected of aiding the criminal gang is currently at large, while efforts are ongoing to track him down.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its relentless effort to rid the state of criminally minded elements, has successfully dismantled a three-man armed robbery syndicate and recovered arms and ammunition,” the statement read in part.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining security across the state.
