The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has commended one of its officers, Muibi Ademola (Bravo 27), for demonstrating integrity and professionalism by rejecting a ₦20,000 cash offer from a motorist at the Ago–Ibiwoye axis of Okota, Lagos.

According to a report published in The Nation newspaper on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the motorist had called Officer Ademola’s attention to a developing traffic situation along the corridor.

The officer promptly intervened and successfully restored order within minutes.Impressed by the officer’s swift response and effectiveness, the motorist reportedly offered him ₦20,000 in appreciation. However, Officer Ademola declined the gesture, stating that he was only performing his lawful duty for which he is adequately compensated by the Lagos State Government.

Reacting to the report, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, lauded Officer Ademola’s exemplary conduct, describing it as a reflection of discipline, integrity, and professionalism in public service.

“This rare display of honesty strengthens public confidence in the agency and underscores the renewed culture of accountability and transparency being entrenched under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu,” he said.

Bakare-Oki added that Ademola’s action represents the moral reawakening and ethical reform the management is promoting among LASTMA personnel to restore public trust and uphold the dignity of traffic enforcement in Lagos.

He urged other officers to emulate Ademola’s example by demonstrating honesty, fairness, and commitment to duty, assuring that the agency would continue to recognize and reward acts that project LASTMA’s image positively.

“The management remains committed to continuous training and value reorientation to promote discipline, civility, and operational excellence among officers,” he added.

In his response, Ademola expressed appreciation to the management and Lagos State Government for their investment in staff training, welfare, and operational support, which, he said, have helped shape his professional conduct.“I am grateful for the consistent training and provision of logistics that make our work more effective and rewarding,” he said.

Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to upholding integrity-driven traffic management and strict enforcement of traffic regulations across the state.
