The Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, has issued a firm directive to Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and tactical units across the state to clamp down on the unauthorized use of sirens, tinted vehicle glasses, and fake or covered number plates.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the command reminded residents that the existing ban on the misuse of diplomatic number plates, unregistered vehicles, and the unlawful deployment of sirens remains firmly in place.

The Police Command clarified that only a limited category of individuals and agencies are legally permitted to use sirens. These include:•The President and Vice President, The Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, The Chief Justice of Nigeria, State Governors and their Deputies, Military, Police, Paramilitary agencies, Fire service, ambulances, and bullion vans under escort.

CP Sani directed all formations within the command to enforce this order rigorously, warning that violators will face arrest, prosecution, and the seizure of their vehicles and any illegal accessories.

The Commissioner appealed to the peace-loving residents of Kebbi State to cooperate with law enforcement in ensuring safety and order across the state.“

This enforcement drive is necessary to rid our roads of lawlessness and restore discipline in line with existing legal provisions,” the statement emphasized.

The Police Command urged the public to support efforts to make Kebbi safer and more secure by reporting violations and complying with the law.
