President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially confirmed the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in London at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2025, after a prolonged illness.

He was 82 years old.In response to the sad development, President Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to travel to the United Kingdom to accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria for burial arrangements.

President Tinubu has also ordered that all national flags be flown at half-mast across the country in honour of the late statesman, who served as Nigeria’s military head of state from 1984 to 1985 and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.
