The Enugu State Police Command has achieved a major operational breakthrough with the arrest of six suspects linked to armed robbery, motorcycle snatching, and cult-related activities in different parts of the state.
The operations also led to the recovery of firearms, live ammunition, a stolen motorcycle, and other incriminating exhibits.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed in a statement that on August 13, 2025, operatives of the Crack Tactical Squad, while on routine patrol in the Abakpa area, arrested one Tochukwu Edeh, aged 27, who was found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, concealed in a black bag.
In a related operation on August 10, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Squad arrested three suspects — Odoh Friday (24), Okamkpa Onyeka Chukwu (22), and Uzor Okwudili (23) — following confessions from two notorious cult and robbery suspects earlier taken into custody.
The three, who confessed to being members of the Black Axe confraternity, were found with a locally made single-barrel pistol, an expended cartridge, blue candle sticks, and suspected cannabis.
Similarly, on August 9, operatives attached to the Oji-River Police Division, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects, Kosi Ani (22) and Ahmed Ibrahim (29), while attempting to sell a snatched Topway motorcycle.
The duo later confessed to robbing a commercial motorcyclist of the bike the previous night.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the operatives for their gallant efforts, stressing that the Command remains resolute in its fight against crime.
He urged residents to continue supporting the police with credible information to enhance public safety.SP Ndukwe added that discreet investigations into the cases are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
