The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the reported kidnap of TikTok influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television, noting that contrary to viral claims, the 20-year-old content creator is safe and not harmed.
“We are investigating the allegation, but we can confirm that Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, is at home safe and sound. His vehicle is also intact, and all his phones and properties are with him. Nothing was missing,” Hundeyin stated.
The police spokesperson explained that preliminary findings indicate there was no violence or loss of property, though the Command is still probing the case to determine whether it was a genuine abduction, a staged incident, or a false alarm.
Peller was reportedly seized by armed men while livestreaming on TikTok Wednesday night, with viral footage showing him apparently mistaking the men for security personnel before being driven away.
“That is what we are investigating. All his properties were intact, and there was no violence whatsoever,” Hundeyin added.
