A multiple-vehicle accident involving a petrol tanker and six other vehicles occurred on Tuesday on Otedola Bridge, inward Berger, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing traffic disruption in the area.
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday.
According to the RRS, emergency responders were swiftly deployed to the scene, with officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS), Rapid Response Squad, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) coordinating rescue efforts and managing traffic to ease vehicular movement along the corridor.
Three of the six vehicles involved in the crash were severely damaged, while the owners of three others with minor dents were able to move their vehicles away from the scene.
Two victims who sustained serious injuries were taken to hospitals for urgent medical attention, while other victims with minor injuries were treated on the spot by LASAMBUS officials.
The statement read: “Our men stationed at Otedola Bridge responded swiftly to a multiple-vehicle accident that occurred at Otedola Bridge, outward Lagos (inward Berger), involving a fully loaded tanker and six other vehicles.
“No lives were lost in the incident. However, two persons sustained serious injuries and were promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention. Emergency responders are currently on ground, and efforts are ongoing to clear the affected vehicles and restore free flow of traffic.”
It was learnt that the accident involved a PMS-laden tanker, two Toyota Corolla vehicles, and a Volkswagen Transporter commercial bus, alongside other vehicles.
