The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued four children and two adults from separate emergencies in Lekki Phase 1 and Apapa areas of the state.
The Controller-General of the Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
According to Adeseye, the first incident occurred at about 14:31 hours when the Service received a distress call involving a road traffic accident at No. 1, Wole Olateju Crescent, Kingshisha, Lekki Phase 1, off Admiralty Road, within Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
She said the Oniru Fire Station was immediately deployed to the scene, where a Lexus RX 300 Jeep with registration number GGE 750BM was found to have lost control and rammed into five male children.
“Preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle, allegedly over-speeding, veered off the road and ran into five male children aged between eight and 13 years who were standing by the gate of the residence,” Adeseye said.
She disclosed that four of the children were rescued alive but sustained severe injuries and were subsequently conveyed to a hospital by sympathisers, while one nine-year-old boy was suspected dead at the scene.
“The vehicle and the victims sustained varying degrees of damage and injuries. The affected vehicle was later evacuated by a private towing company and taken to the Maroko Police Station,” she added.
Adeseye noted that officers of the Maroko Police Division were present at the scene and had taken over the case for further investigation.
In a related development, the Controller-General said the Ajegunle Fire Station responded to another distress call at about 16:47 hours involving a broken-down fuel tanker opposite Eco Bank, Apapa.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that two adult males were trapped inside the tanker while carrying out repair work,” she said.
She explained that fire service personnel immediately commenced rescue operations and successfully extricated both victims alive.
“The two rescued individuals were promptly handed over to medical responders and conveyed to a hospital for further treatment,” Adeseye stated.
She reiterated the Service’s commitment to rapid emergency response and urged residents to promptly report emergencies while observing safety precautions to prevent avoidable incidents.
