Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sadness over the recent road accident involving British-Nigerian professional boxer, Anthony Joshua, in Makun, Ogun State.
In a statement shared on his official social media handle on Monday, Atiku conveyed his solidarity with the two-time former unified heavyweight champion, describing Joshua as “a symbol of strength and resilience” while praying for his swift and complete recovery.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua in Makun, Ogun State,” Atiku said. “I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery.”
The former vice president also extended his heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who lost their lives in the accident.
“May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in this time of sorrow,” he added.
Atiku further expressed confidence that Joshua, known for his determination and grit both inside and outside the ring, would overcome the challenges posed by the incident.
Anthony Joshua was involved in a car accident in Ogun State when the vehicle conveying him reportedly collided with another vehicle under circumstances that are still being investigated.
An eyewitness who participated in the rescue operation disclosed that Joshua sustained minor injuries, while two occupants died on the spot. Authorities are yet to issue an official report on the cause of the crash.
