The Nigeria Police Force Liaison and Consultant to the United States Embassy in Nigeria, Mr. Busayo Mogaji, has congratulated the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, describing his appointment as a timely and strategic step towards reinvigorating police reform and operational effectiveness nationwide.
In a statement issued by Mr. Badejo Hakeem, Chief Publicist of Western Eagle Security Limited, Mogaji lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he termed a well-considered decision that reflects a clear commitment to strengthening security architecture across the country.
He noted that Disu’s extensive operational and administrative experience aligns with the pressing needs of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly at a time when intelligence-led policing and public trust remain central to effective law enforcement.
“The appointment of IGP Tunji Disu is both timely and strategic,” Mogaji stated.
“Mr. President’s description of him as an operational police officer is not only a recognition of his field expertise but also a clear mandate to deepen operational readiness and enhance professionalism across commands.”
According to him, the new IGP’s emergence signals renewed momentum for reforms that will reposition the Force to better respond to evolving security challenges.
Mogaji further described Wednesday’s inauguration of the 8 – man State Police Implementation Committee by the IGP as a significant milestone in advancing structural reform and decentralized operational effectiveness.
“The establishment of the State Police Implementation Committee demonstrates proactive leadership and a forward-looking vision,” he said. “It underscores a determination to strengthen institutional capacity and ensure the Force adapts effectively to emerging realities.”
Recalling previous engagements with Disu, including collaborative efforts on the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) supported by the United States Government, Mogaji emphasized that reform-driven partnerships remain critical to capacity development.
“Our collaborative work on initiatives such as the Special Intervention Squad has shown that strategic partnerships can drive measurable improvements in training, equipment acquisition, and operational standards,” he noted. “Sustained cooperation with credible local and international partners will be key to consolidating ongoing reforms.”
Mogaji reaffirmed his commitment to mobilizing support from relevant stakeholders to enhance professionalism, accountability, and service delivery within the Force.
