The Lagos State Police Command has intensified security across the state ahead of Easter, with Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai ordering a massive deployment of personnel to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration.
The Command said the proactive security measures are designed to guarantee peace and public safety before, during and after the festive period.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed in a statement on Friday that officers and operational assets have been strategically deployed to worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, transportation hubs and other critical infrastructure across the state.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has ordered adequate deployment of personnel and operational assets to strategic locations across the State to ensure maximum security coverage throughout the Easter celebration,” she said.
Adebisi noted that special attention has been given to riverine areas, where the Marine Police have been deployed to strengthen surveillance and prevent criminal activities along the waterways.
“Special attention has been given to the riverine areas, with the Marine Police strategically deployed for enhanced surveillance and patrol to ensure safety within the waterways,” she stated.
She added that the Command is working in collaboration with relevant agencies to implement traffic management measures aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic across the state during the festive period.
The police spokesperson said the Commissioner of Police extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful, urging residents to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence associated with the season.
“While assuring residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, the Commissioner of Police emphasised the importance of community partnership in effective policing,” Adebisi said.
She urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to security agencies.
“Residents are advised to make use of the Command’s emergency lines in cases of distress and for credible information sharing, as timely information remains vital to proactive and effective policing,” she added.
