Troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have intensified a sustained crackdown on terrorist logistics networks, intercepting multiple couriers and recovering a cache of ammunition in Kogi State.

The operations, conducted over a three-month period, were driven by intelligence and targeted at dismantling supply chains sustaining terrorist activities within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility.

Confirming the development, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, said the troops had maintained a proactive posture in denying terrorists freedom of movement and disrupting their logistics networks.

“Over the past three months, troops of 12 Brigade have intensified intelligence-driven operations aimed at cracking down on terrorist elements and dismantling their logistics supply networks within our operational environment,” he said.

Abdullahi disclosed that one of the breakthroughs occurred on March 29, 2026, when troops intercepted a suspected logistics courier along the Jamata–Owara road in Lokoja Local Government Area.

“During the operation, troops intercepted a suspect riding a motorcycle. A thorough search revealed that the motorcycle had been specially modified with a concealed compartment for the covert conveyance of ammunition and other items,” he stated.

He added that preliminary investigations established links between the suspect and known terrorist elements, prompting follow-up operations.

“The arrest of the suspect, identified as a high-profile ammunition courier, provided actionable intelligence that led to subsequent operations targeting other members of the network,” Abdullahi noted.

In a related operation conducted on April 20, 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence mounted a snap checkpoint at Response Area Oshokoshoko along the Obajana–Kabba road.

“Acting swiftly on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected terrorist logistics elements, troops intercepted a Toyota bus conveying the suspects from Makurdi en route Obajana,” he said.

According to Abdullahi, two suspects identified as Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi were arrested during the operation.

“A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a sack containing 314 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and three AK-47 rifle magazines concealed behind the driver’s seat,” he revealed.

Other items recovered, he said, included two mobile phones, a driver’s licence, a National Identification Number slip, and an identity card.

He stressed that the interception was a major success in ongoing efforts to prevent terrorists from re-establishing disrupted networks.

“This operation underscores our commitment to denying terrorists the ability to regroup and re-establish their logistics networks after sustained military pressure,” Abdullahi said.

The Army spokesperson further confirmed that the suspects and recovered items had been handed over to the 12 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.

“All arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been transferred to the appropriate military intelligence authorities for comprehensive investigation and possible prosecution,” he added.

Reiterating the resolve of the Nigerian Army, Abdullahi assured that operations would continue until all threats are neutralised.

“We remain resolute in our mission to safeguard lives and property. Troops will continue to sustain offensive operations and intelligence-led actions to ensure that terrorist elements are denied any operational foothold within our area,” he said.
