Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security as a critical driver of sustained economic growth in the state.
The governor made the assertion at a dinner held in honour of participants of Syndicate 5, Executive Intelligence Management Course 19 of the National Institute for Security Studies, at the Local Government Training School Hall, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Babatunde, Makinde said sustained collaboration among security agencies has been pivotal in maintaining peace and protecting lives and property across the state.
“Effective collaboration and synergy among security agencies have been instrumental in sustaining peace and safeguarding the lives and property of our people,” he said.
“We will continue to prioritise security and strengthen the state’s security architecture to ensure that our economic gains are not only protected but sustained.”
The governor also commended the visiting participants for selecting Oyo State for their study tour, noting that such engagements contribute to knowledge exchange and policy development in the security sector.
Earlier, Syndicate Supervisor, Julius Obukohwa, said the visit had broadened the group’s understanding of governance, security management, and environmental safety. He praised the state government for its consistent support to security agencies through the provision of equipment and logistics.
Traditional and government representatives at the event, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, who was represented, as well as security officials and local government authorities, lauded the participants and urged them to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen Nigeria’s security framework.
They emphasised the need for continuous capacity building and collaboration in addressing evolving security challenges.
The event drew top government officials, service commanders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders, reflecting a broad-based commitment to advancing security and governance in the state..
