The Nigerian Army has published the list of shortlisted candidates for the 2025 Short Service Commission (SSC) course, marking a major milestone in its ongoing selection process for prospective officers.
The announcement was made on Monday in a statement issued by the Military Secretary (Army) and shared on the Army’s verified X handle. According to the statement, the full list of successful applicants is now available on the recruitment portal: recruitment.army.mil.ng.
The Army directed all shortlisted candidates to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Ribadu Campus, Kaduna State, on December 1, 2025 for the next phase of screening.
“The shortlisted candidates are to report to the Nigerian Defence Academy Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna State, on 1 December 2025,” the statement read. It added that candidates are encouraged to arrive a day earlier, on November 30, and must report to the Selection Board venue between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the screening day.
The Army issued a strict warning that “candidates who arrive after 11 a.m. on 1 December 2025 will be automatically disqualified.”
Candidates are required to present both original and photocopies of key documents, including academic and professional certificates, NYSC discharge or exemption certificates, birth certificate, certificate of state of origin, BVN printout, NIN slip, and completed SSC forms.
Other mandatory items include writing materials, blue shorts, white T-shirts, white canvas shoes, beddings, toiletries, full-size coloured photographs, and scratch cards for verifying WAEC or NECO results.
Parents or guardians must also provide a duly signed Letter of Consent issued by a recognised court of law, confirming that they will not seek compensation for any injury or death during the exercise.
The selection process will involve document verification, physical fitness evaluation, medical tests, academic assessments, and oral interviews. The Army emphasised that any alteration on submitted documents will automatically render them invalid.
While candidates will be accommodated and fed throughout the exercise, they are responsible for their transportation to and from Kaduna. The Army further prohibited the use of private vehicles and visits from outsiders during the entire duration of the screening. Reiterating the need for discipline, the statement stressed that “candidates who violate any instruction during the Selection Board will be disqualified.” It added that, due to the military nature of the exercise, the Army “shall not be liable for any injuries or deaths recorded in the course of the Selection Board.”
