Bandits have launched another violent attack in Kwara State, abducting 11 residents from Isapa community in Ekiti Local Government Area, barely days after gunmen kidnapped 38 worshippers and killed several others at the Christ Apostolic Church in Oke-Igan.
Eyewitnesses told Channels Television on Tuesday that more than 20 armed men, moving with a large herd of cattle, stormed the quiet community on Monday night, firing sporadically as residents fled for safety. An elderly woman was said to have been struck by a stray bullet during the invasion.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that 11 people were taken, including seven members of the same family. The abducted victims include a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several young children.
Those kidnapped have been identified as: Talatu Kabiru (20), Magaji (6), Kande (5), Hadiza (10), Mariam (6), Saima (5), Habibat (housewife), Fatima Yusufu (pregnant woman), Sarah Sunday (22), Lami Fidelis (23, nursing mother) and Haja Na Allah (nursing mother)
Residents described a scene of chaos and destruction, with bullet holes riddling walls and doors, and spent AK-47 shells littering the ground hours after the attackers fled with their captives.
