The Commissioners of Police for Benue and Enugu States, CP Ifeanyi Innocent and CP Bitrus Giwa, have agreed to deepen collaboration between the two Commands to effectively tackle rising interstate crimes and cross-border security threats.
This resolution was reached during a strategic operational meeting held on October 29, 2025, in Benue State, where both Commissioners reviewed existing security challenges and mapped out strategies to enhance cooperation between their jurisdictions.
In a statement jointly signed by the Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State Command, DSP Edet Udeme, and his counterpart in Enugu State , SP Daniel Ndukwe said the meeting focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and joint resource deployment to curb violent crimes, particularly in border communities.
“The Commissioners identified the infiltration of criminal elements and their collaboration with unscrupulous individuals within border areas as major enablers of interstate crimes. They resolved to intensify intelligence-driven operations and sustain the synergy between both Commands,” DSP Udeme stated.
The renewed partnership will focus on security operations within Ado, Ogbadibo, and Okpokwu Local Government Areas of Benue State and Igbo-Eze North, Isi-Uzo, and Udenu Local Government Areas of Enugu State.
According to DSP Udeme, senior operational officers from both Commands participated in the session, which will now be held routinely to maintain momentum in tackling shared security challenges.
He recalled that recent joint operations between the Benue and Enugu State Commands have led to the arrest of criminal suspects operating across both states, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the recovery of stolen vehicles, laptops, and mobile phones.
Udeme and Ndukwe reaffirmed that the Commands remain fully committed to the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, emphasizing inter-command cooperation as a key strategy in maintaining public safety and combating organized crime across Nigeria.
