The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on violent crimes, leading to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of firearms, stolen motorcycles, solar equipment, and other incriminating items in separate operations across the state.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the first arrest occurred on 20th August 2025, when operatives attached to the Agbani Area Command, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended 28-year-old Okafor Chukwuka.
A locally made double-barrel gun was recovered from him.
Preliminary investigations linked the suspect to an armed robbery incident in Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East LGA, two weeks earlier, where a motorcycle was snatched at gunpoint.
In a separate operation on 18th August 2025, officers of Udenu Police Division arrested two suspects, 45-year-old Emeka Odo and 35-year-old Ugochukwu Eze, at Obollo-Afor in Udenu LGA.
During interrogation, Odo confessed to robbing a motorcyclist on 7th August in collaboration with an accomplice still at large, before selling the stolen motorcycle to Eze.
Items recovered from the duo included the stolen motorcycle, a locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, one live cartridge, a battle axe, a cutlass, three solar panels, a solar battery, a solar light, and an object suspected to be charm.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to flushing out criminals from the state and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid proactive policing.
The suspects, according to the police, will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
