The Oyo State Police Command has recovered two locally-made single-barrel firearms, two brand-new short stainless-steel machetes, twenty live cartridges, and a white Toyota Camry with registration number LSD 957 JX, in separate intelligence-driven operations across the state.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Osifeso Adewale, one of the operations uncovered a chilling find.
“In a separate case that same day, a white commercial bus, registration number XA 551 IRG, was intercepted, and officers found a disturbing quantity of human flesh concealed in a passenger’s hand luggage,” he disclosed.
He added that on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at about 9:11 p.m., a Federal Highway Patrol team stopped a Toyota bus (registration number AFZ 933 XA) at the Toll Gate along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of the firearms, machetes, and cartridges. The driver, who could not produce a valid driver’s licence or vehicle documents, was arrested alongside the bus.
“In a related development on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, police operatives also recovered a white Toyota Camry (registration number LSD 957 JX) along the Ogbomoso–Iseyin Road,” Osifeso said.
Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, CP Femi Haruna, said the recoveries were a direct result of intensified intelligence-led stop-and-search operations on highways, major roads, and intersections across the state.
“The Command remains committed to sustaining these targeted strategies to tackle vehicle theft, violent crimes, and other illicit activities. We urge residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour promptly,” CP Haruna stated.
