The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Nkechi Eze, BDS, MPH, fspsp, as the Pioneer Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services.
This appointment follows the recent upgrade of the Force Medical Section to a full-fledged Directorate, a landmark development aimed at institutionalizing comprehensive, accessible, and efficient healthcare services within the Nigeria Police Force.
AIG Nkechi Eze, a distinguished clinician, dental surgeon, and administrator, brings over 27 years of exemplary service to her new role. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and hailing from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, she holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Benin.
Over the course of her illustrious career, AIG Eze has served in various police medical formations across Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos States, where she made notable contributions to advancing police healthcare delivery and personnel welfare.
Egbetokun, while congratulating AIG Eze on her appointment, urged her to bring her wealth of experience and administrative acumen to bear in repositioning the Directorate as a model of excellence in police healthcare services.
“The establishment of the Directorate marks a strategic investment in the health and productivity of our officers,” said CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, quoting the IGP. “The well-being of police personnel remains central to the operational efficiency of the Nigeria Police Force.”
The Inspector-General reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to far-reaching reforms within the Force, emphasizing that enhanced welfare and improved healthcare remain key pillars of his vision for a modern and efficient police organization.
