The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) has concluded a one-day Cybercrime Awareness Campaign in Abuja, marking another milestone in the nation’s efforts to enhance public awareness on online safety and strengthen collective resilience against cyber threats.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), DIG Sadiq Abubakar, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring a safer and more secure digital environment for all Nigerians.
In his welcome address, the Director of NPF–NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, expressed appreciation to partners and stakeholders for their continued cooperation and support.
He emphasized that tackling cybercrime requires a united national front.“Today’s digital era demands that all Nigerians are not just users but also guardians of their own cybersecurity,” CP Henry said.
“This campaign is part of our mandate to make citizens more aware and resilient to online threats. We will continue to build on this foundation by scaling up cyber education, enhancing reporting mechanisms, and strengthening our enforcement capacity.”
The event attracted over 3,000 participants drawn from schools, government and private institutions, digital platforms, and various agencies.
Highlights of the day included an awareness walk, distribution of sensitization materials, and a musical fiesta that combined entertainment with enlightenment on online safety.
Speaking on the initiative, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Ben Hundeyin, said the campaign demonstrates the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to securing the nation’s digital space and empowering citizens to “Stay Smart, Stay Safe online.”
He added that the NPF–NCCC will continue to drive proactive engagements to curb cyber threats and promote responsible digital citizenship across all sectors.
