The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has redeployed the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Wilfred Afolabi and replaced him with CP Lawal Adebowale.
No official reason has been given for the removal of Afolabi.
The spokesperson for the state command, Ayanlade Olayinka, said in a statement that Afolabi received his redeployment notice on Thursday.
“Following his redeployment notice on Thursday, CP Afolabi continued his duties diligently, encouraging officers to remain focused, professional, and emotionally detached from transfers, which are part of the service,” Olayinka said.
Olayinka added that a new commissioner of police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has also assumed duty post and replaced the redeployed Afolabi at the state police command.
The redeployment has been followed by series of speculations online.
