The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the defilement of minors in separate incidents across the state, reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance against child abuse and gender-based violence.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the first incident occurred on August 27, 2025, in Bedi, Zuru Local Government Area, when a 10-year-old girl was lured and sexually assaulted by one Amos Jondo Maliki.
In another case on September 6, 2025, a 48-year-old man, Mansuru Sani, allegedly lured a five-year-old girl into his shop in Birnin Kebbi, where he inserted his finger into her private parts.
Abubakar confirmed that detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) investigated the cases, after which both suspects were arraigned in court.
“These arrests demonstrate our Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of society,” Abubakar said.
“We will continue to ensure diligent investigation and prosecution of all gender-based violence cases in the state.”
He urged parents and guardians to be vigilant, stressing: “We advise parents to monitor the movement of their children and promptly report any suspected case of abuse to the nearest police station for immediate action.”
