The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested five suspected bandits and recovered a significant cache of weapons and cash following a coordinated operation along the Zuru–Tadurga road.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the arrests were made on 16 November 2025 at about 0100hrs, after Police Mobile Force operatives attached to 36 PMF Squadron, Birnin Kebbi, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted the suspects during a targeted operation aimed at restoring peace in the area.
The suspects—Bako Aliyu of Nanarki village, Sani Alaramma of Wawan Icce village, Umaru Tafsi of Birnin Tudu village, Mamman Sani Danzakara of Mallamawa village, and Lawali Sani of Birnin Tudu village—all males from Bukkuyum and Gummi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, are believed to be linked to recent attacks within the region.
Abubakar disclosed that a substantial arsenal was recovered from the suspects, including seven fabricated AK-47 rifles, one locally made pistol, three Dane guns, three AK-47 magazines, 43 rounds of 7.62×39mm live ammunition, 46 live cartridges, two empty shells, and cash totaling ₦2,623,900.
“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for further investigation, with the aim of uncovering their modus operandi and apprehending other members of the syndicate,” CSP Abubakar stated.
He added that the operation underscores the Command’s proactive efforts to curb banditry and other violent crimes across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, commended the professionalism, bravery, and commitment of the 36 PMF personnel, urging them to sustain the momentum until criminal activities are eradicated.
Abubakar further noted: “The Command remains fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of residents. We appeal to the public to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement to the nearest security formation.”
The Kebbi State Police Command reiterated its determination to ensure a safer environment for all residents.
