The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnapped victims following a daring operation by a combined team of security forces in the Shanga Hills area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the victims—Muhammad Nasamu Namata (25), Gide Namata (20), and Hamidu Alhaji Namani (35)—were abducted by heavily armed kidnappers in the early hours of July 27, 2025, from Sangara village in Shanga Local Government Area.
Upon receiving the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga swiftly mobilized a joint security team comprising the Police, Nigerian Army, NSCDC, local vigilantes, and hunters.
The team tracked the kidnappers to Shanga Hills, where they engaged the criminals in a fierce gun duel. Overpowered by the superior firepower of the security team, the kidnappers fled into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds, abandoning the victims.
The hostages were rescued unharmed on July 31 and are currently receiving medical attention before being reunited with their families.
Commending the operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, applauded the courage and professionalism of the team, emphasizing the importance of sustained collaboration among all security agencies.
He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property in Kebbi State and urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
