The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully rescued a 25-year-old man, Abdulmumini Alhaji Ahmadu, who was abducted by armed kidnappers in Kesan village, Shanga Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, August 23, 2025, when a gang of kidnappers stormed the community around 5:00 a.m.According to police authorities, the criminals, armed with dangerous weapons, whisked away Abdulmumini during the raid.
However, swift response from security operatives foiled their plan.The Divisional Police Officer in Shanga immediately mobilised a combined team of policemen and local vigilantes, who trailed the abductors into the forest. In the process of rescuing the victim, the kidnappers shot him in the left leg before fleeing the scene.
Police operatives were able to evacuate the injured victim to a nearby medical facility, where he is currently receiving treatment and responding well, according to medical reports.
Confirming the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, commended the gallantry of his officers and the vigilante group, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against violent crimes across the state.He assured residents that the police would continue to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring peace and stability in Kebbi communities.
While applauding the synergy between security agencies and local vigilantes, CP Sani urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, accurate, and useful information to assist law enforcement efforts in curbing insecurity.
