Two hundred Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Lagos State have received ₦100,000 each from the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) to help them meet pressing needs and improve their well-being.
The financial assistance was provided as part of LASODA’s annual welfare support initiative for Persons with Disabilities in the state.
The presentation was held at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, from Tuesday, September 22 to Friday, September 25, 2026, with 50 PWDs receiving the assistance each day, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 200.
Speaking during the presentation, the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, said the initiative reflected the government’s commitment to its THEMES Plus Development Agenda and the principle of leaving no one behind.
Oyetunde-Lawal said the financial assistance could not address every challenge faced by the beneficiaries but remained an important intervention to support them and respond to some of their immediate needs.
She said, “While financial assistance alone cannot address every challenge faced by Persons with Disabilities, it serves as an important intervention and demonstrates the government’s responsiveness to the needs of our community. Through this initiative, we are providing immediate support to beneficiaries while reaffirming our commitment to promoting their well-being, dignity and inclusion.”
Represented by the Director, Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Omolade Sonubi, the General Manager urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously for purposes that would provide meaningful support to their welfare and livelihoods.
She also reaffirmed LASODA’s commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of life of Persons with Disabilities and ensure that disability inclusion remains part of the state’s development agenda.
