Four suspected fraudsters have been arrested in Lagos for allegedly scamming over 100 people of more than N500 million through a bogus visa scheme.
The suspects — staff of a consultancy firm in Ago Okota — promised Canadian and Australian work visas with job guarantees but failed to deliver after collecting huge sums from victims.
Police investigations revealed that the suspects targeted unsuspecting clients under false pretenses, prompting a major crackdown by officers of the Lagos State Command.
The case has now been transferred to the State CID in Yaba for deeper investigation.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, is calling on residents to stay alert and confirm the legitimacy of any travel or recruitment agency before making transactions.
The command is intensifying its manhunt for other accomplices still on the run.
