“Admission Will Be Strictly on Merit” Says Govt

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has announced the release of results for the 2025/2026 entrance examination into Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools across the state.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director of Public Affairs, Kayode Sutton, confirmed that parents and candidates can now check the results at their respective schools of choice.

“The results are out and accessible at the designated Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools where candidates sat for the exams.

We urge parents and guardians to visit these centres for confirmation,” Sutton stated.

He emphasized that the entire admission process will be transparent and merit-based, with final placement strictly determined by candidates’ performance in the screening test.

“Admissions will be based solely on merit. Each school has its own cut-off mark, and only candidates who meet or exceed these benchmarks will be considered,” Sutton clarified.

He also cautioned parents, students, and guardians to be vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudsters claiming to offer admission through unofficial means.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that the Lagos State Government does not operate any backdoor admission process. There is no preferential treatment, and no payment should be made to any individual or agent outside the official process,” Sutton warned.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to upholding standards and fairness in the state’s educational system, adding that successful candidates will be given equal opportunity during the placement exercise.
