Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the appointment of Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa as the Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), effective November 23, 2025.

According to a statement issued by Adepeju Adeyemi, Deputy Director, Public Affairs, OEQA, the appointment letter was presented to Ogunmuyiwa on Thursday, December 11, 2025, by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, at the Secretariat, Alausa.

Ogunmuyiwa, described as a seasoned education administrator, brings more than 25 years of progressive experience in school evaluation, planning, educational leadership, and quality assurance within the Lagos State Government.

He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, two Master’s degrees in Educational Administration and in Guidance and Counselling, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos.

Over the course of his career, he has served in several key positions, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and most recently, Director of Private Education and Special Programmes at OEQA, where he oversaw school accreditation, quality monitoring, and system-improvement initiatives. He has also been honoured multiple times as OEQA’s Best Staff between 2012 and 2022.

The statement noted that Ogunmuyiwa is an active member of various professional bodies and has played significant roles in teacher development, school improvement frameworks, and community-based education initiatives.

He is known for mentoring civil servants and young professionals and has facilitated numerous trainings for both government and private institutions.

Congratulating the new Director-General, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, expressed confidence in his leadership capacity.

“I am confident that Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment will further enhance the quality of education in Lagos State, and I urge him to continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our education system remains a model for others to emulate,” Agoro said.
