Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has disclosed that she recently took a drug test in response to rumours and public speculation alleging substance abuse, a move she said was aimed at clearing her name and safeguarding her reputation.
Daniels made the disclosure in a lengthy statement shared on her Instagram page, where she described the past few months as a difficult and defining period in her life.
According to the actress, her decision to undergo the test was driven by a desire to uphold accountability, integrity and personal peace of mind, noting that the love and support she received from her family, friends and fans gave her the strength to confront the allegations directly.
She said she chose to take control of her narrative rather than allow public opinion and social media speculation, particularly claims branding her as a drug addict, to define her.
“The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy… It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core,” Daniels wrote, adding that she survived the period through overwhelming support from loved ones and members of the public.
Addressing the drug abuse claims, the actress said the allegations forced her into deep self-reflection before she concluded that public projections and online narratives do not equate to truth.
“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, ‘Regina is a drug addict.’ … But projection is not reality, and noise is not truth,” she stated.
Daniels stressed that the decision to take the drug test was a deliberate choice to affirm her values and reassure those who look up to her, insisting that integrity and accountability remain central to her personal and public life.
She described the current phase of her life as one of self-discovery and intentional growth, expressing gratitude to God for strength and grace through the challenging period.
“This chapter of my life is now about self-discovery, self-growth, and becoming even more intentional about who I am and where I’m going,” she added.
The development comes amid unconfirmed reports of an alleged divorce between the actress and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, which has continued to fuel public speculation about her personal life.
Regina Daniels rose to prominence as a child actress and has since become one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces, featuring in dozens of films and maintaining a strong social media presence that has kept her in the public eye beyond the screen.
In 2019, her marriage to businessman and politician Senator Ned Nwoko attracted widespread national attention and intense public scrutiny, placing her personal life under constant media spotlight.
In recent months, Daniels has been at the centre of renewed speculation following reports of marital strain and an alleged separation from Nwoko, claims neither party has officially confirmed. The rumours were accompanied by heightened online commentary, including unverified allegations about her lifestyle and conduct, which gained traction across social media platforms.
The actress’s decision to publicly address the claims and undergo a drug test comes against this backdrop of sustained public attention, reflecting the growing pressure faced by public figures to respond directly to viral narratives in the digital age.
