In a major crackdown on illicit drug activities, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT has successfully dislodged a notorious criminal enclave in the Gidan Drama area of Malu Road, Apapa, leading to the arrest of 27 suspected drug peddlers.
According to a statement released by the Base Information Officer, Lt. Hussaini Ibrahim, the raid was conducted on Saturday, April 5, 2025, following credible intelligence received on the prevalence of drug-related activities in the area.
The operation was carried out by personnel of NNS BEECROFT under Operation MESA.Commodore Paul Ponfa Nimmyel, Commander of NNS BEECROFT, represented by the Executive Officer, Capt. Idongesit Udoessien, confirmed the arrests, noting that the suspects comprised 24 males and 3 females.
Several hard drugs and illicit substances were recovered during the operation.
The suspects, along with the seized substances, have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
