The Nigeria Police Force has recorded yet another milestone in its sustained offensive against violent crimes, with daring operations in Kebbi and Abia States leading to the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the neutralization of armed gangs, and the recovery of a cache of weapons.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, disclosed in a statement that the operations reaffirm the Force’s resolve to protect lives and property while dismantling criminal networks across the country.
In Kebbi State, three victims abducted from Sangara Village in Shanga Local Government Area on July 27, 2025 — identified as 25-year-old Muhammad Nasamu Namata, 20-year-old Gide Namata, and 35-year-old Hamidu Alhaji Namani — were rescued after a fierce gun battle in Shanga Hills.
“The kidnappers, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of our operatives, fled with gunshot injuries, leaving the captives unharmed,” Adejobi stated.
Similarly, police operatives on patrol in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area engaged armed bandits around Dankade Village in Ribah District, resulting in the successful rescue of two herders, 26-year-old Tukur Bello and 25-year-old Isyaka Abubakar.
The duo had been abducted on August 9 while grazing cattle in Zamfara State but have since been reunited with their families.
In Abia State, police acting on credible intelligence stormed a kidnappers’ den in Umuiku Obete Village, Ukwa West LGA, where a gang notorious for terrorizing commuters launched an attack on the operatives.
“Five members of the gang were neutralized, while a search of the hideout yielded six AK-47 rifles, 335 rounds of live ammunition, 14 magazines, and other dangerous weapons,” Adejobi revealed. He added that follow-up operations are underway to apprehend fleeing gang members.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the gallantry of the officers, charging them to sustain the tempo in the ongoing war against criminality.
He reassured Nigerians that the Force remains unflinching in its mission to dismantle crime cartels and restore peace nationwide.
