The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its crackdown on armed criminal groups, neutralizing three bandits and recovering ten AK-47 rifles during a series of intelligence-led operations across Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Nasarawa, and Niger States.
Confirming the development, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the operations were carried out in July 2025 by operatives from the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).
“The criminals, upon sighting our operatives, opened fire in an attempt to evade arrest. They were subdued after a fierce gun duel, leaving three dead while others escaped with gunshot injuries,” Adejobi stated.
He explained that the recovered rifles had been linked to several violent crimes, including kidnappings, armed robberies, and cattle rustling.
“These weapons are not just instruments of violence; they are evidence of the organized nature of the threats we are dealing with. We are determined to dismantle these networks completely,” he added.
Adejobi further disclosed that follow-up tactical operations are underway to track down fleeing syndicate members already implicated in attacks on rural communities.
“We will not relent. Our mandate is clear—to protect lives and property, and we will continue to act decisively against those who choose violence,” he emphasized.
He urged Nigerians to cooperate by sharing actionable intelligence:“Public support remains critical. We appeal to citizens to report any suspicious movement to nearby police formations or official channels so we can act swiftly,” Adejobi concluded.
