In a move aimed at promoting inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced plans to decentralise the recruitment of police personnel, granting recruitment desk officers from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory significant roles in the 2025 exercise.
The decision follows a historic consultative meeting in Abuja with state recruitment officers, where the PSC resolved to open its newly acquired recruitment portal to all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Character Commission.
This, the Commission said, will ensure broader oversight, curb nepotism, and foster public trust in the recruitment process.PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd), said the Commission is committed to delivering a police force that Nigerians can be proud of, stressing the importance of collaboration with state desk officers as “immediate beneficiaries” of the recruitment process.
The new portal will be deployed for both PSC staff recruitment and all categories of police officers, with the 2025 recruitment portal set to open once preparations are complete.
