The Police Service Commission (PSC) has issued a stern warning against any form of racketeering or fraud in the upcoming recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force, pledging to ensure transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to due process.
Chairman of the PSC, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Hashimu Argungu, made this declaration during a courtesy visit to the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Accompanied by Justice Paul Adamu Galumje, Commissioner representing the Judiciary in the PSC, Argungu emphasized that any attempt to circumvent the recruitment process through sharp practices would be firmly resisted and violators sanctioned.
Argungu noted that although the date for the next recruitment exercise—which will include Cadet ASPs and Inspectors—has not been fixed, the Commission deemed it necessary to proactively engage key stakeholders like the FCC to uphold the principles of equity and national representation.
He stressed that discretion, waivers, and replacement lists would no longer be tolerated, as they undermine transparency and fairness.In his remarks, Hon. Kayode Oladele described the visit as a laudable demonstration of inter-agency synergy and a shared commitment to constitutional values of justice, equity, and national cohesion.
He emphasized that a truly inclusive and representative police force would not only build public trust but also strengthen internal security and social harmony.
He assured that the FCC would closely collaborate with the PSC to monitor and enforce compliance with federal character principles throughout the recruitment process.
