A member of the House of Representatives, Oluwole Oke, has congratulated the newly appointed Acting Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, describing his elevation as a fitting reward for years of professionalism, integrity and dedicated service to the nation.
Oke, who represents Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency of Osun State, said Disu’s appointment comes at a critical time when Nigeria requires strategic reforms and renewed public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement issued Friday by his media office , the lawmaker said the Acting IGP’s extensive operational background and leadership experience position him to steer the Force toward improved efficiency and accountability.
“Your appointment brings renewed hope for a safer Nigeria,” Oke stated.
“We are confident, upon confirmation, that your tenure will strengthen professionalism and restore greater public confidence in policing.”
The federal lawmaker noted that Disu’s career trajectory, marked by leadership roles in tactical units, intelligence operations and state commands, reflects a deep understanding of modern policing challenges.
“His track record in operational excellence and dedication to national security demonstrates that he is well-prepared for this responsibility,” Oke said.

He expressed optimism that the new police chief would prioritize reforms aimed at enhancing officer accountability and strengthening community engagement as part of efforts to tackle violent crime, kidnapping and organised criminal networks.
