…Urges Candidates to Re-check After 24 Hours as Review Underway
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the temporary withdrawal of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, just days after their official release.
The decision, announced on Thursday by the Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, follows the discovery of technical anomalies during a routine post-release review.
According to the Council, the errors stemmed from recently introduced innovations, including “paper serialisation” in key subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics — a security measure aimed at curbing examination malpractice.
However, this measure inadvertently introduced technical bugs that affected the integrity of the released results.
WAEC assured the public and affected candidates that efforts are ongoing to correct the glitches within 24 hours.
While apologising for the inconvenience, the Council advised all candidates who had previously accessed their results to revisit the portal after the review period.
“We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work to resolve the matter with utmost transparency and urgency,” the statement concluded.
