The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced N7,991,141.76 as the fare for the 2026 Hajj exercise, with December 5, 2025 fixed as the deadline for all intending pilgrims to complete their payments.
A statement issued by the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Mr. Taofeek Lawal, quoted the Board Secretary, Mr. AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, as saying that the reduction in the 2026 Hajj fare followed the review announced by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), in line with the directive of the Presidency.
Ajomagberin recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through Vice President Kashim Shettima, had directed NAHCON to review the Hajj fares downward to reflect current realities in the foreign exchange market. Consequently, NAHCON reduced the fare for pilgrims from Lagos and other Southern states from N8,561,013.67 to N7,991,141.76.
He stressed the importance of early and complete payment, citing new policies of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah which emphasize timely planning, documentation, and visa processing.
According to him, “Intending pilgrims who have made part payments are advised to complete the balance immediately, while those who paid above the new amount will receive refunds after due reconciliation by the Accounts Department.”
Ajomagberin also encouraged those yet to make any payment to do so before the December 5, 2025 deadline announced by NAHCON.
He added that the Board would intensify sensitisation and advocacy campaigns across the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos, engaging traditional rulers, religious leaders, council chairmen, and major sponsors to ensure adequate awareness and participation.
While appreciating the Lagos State Government and stakeholders for their continuous support, Ajomagberin reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to providing a seamless, transparent, and spiritually fulfilling Hajj experience for all pilgrims from the state.
