The Mosque Guidance and Development Lagos Initiative (MGDLI) has called on Muslims in Lagos State to support efforts to build cleaner, safer and better-managed mosques through active participation in its forthcoming three-day anniversary programme.
The programme, scheduled for October 30 to November 1, 2026, will take place at the Lagos State First Secretariat Mosque Hall (Olanike Hall), Shamsi Adisa Thomas Central Mosque, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
The organisation invited Imams, mosque administrators, Islamic scholars, youth groups, Muslim professionals, community leaders and other members of the Ummah to participate in the activities lined up for the anniversary.
“The responsibility of developing our mosques does not rest solely on Imams and mosque committees. Every Muslim has a role to play in building institutions that reflect the values of Islam, accountability, cleanliness and service to humanity,” MGDLI said.
The programme will feature special prayers during the Jumu’ah service, health outreach activities, sanitation and hygiene training, first-aid sensitisation, a keynote lecture and networking sessions.
According to the organisation, the activities are designed to equip participants with knowledge and practical ideas for improving mosque administration, public health and community welfare. It said the programme also reflects Islamic teachings on cleanliness, good governance, communal responsibility and mutual support.
Participants will benefit from a medical outreach organised in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Muslim Nurse Forum. The outreach will provide free health checks, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, counselling and referrals.
“This gathering is not merely an anniversary celebration; it is a call to action for Muslims to work collectively towards building stronger institutions and healthier communities,” the organisation said.
MGDLI also appealed to philanthropists, Islamic organisations, corporate bodies and community stakeholders to support the anniversary and partner with the initiative on future mosque development projects.
