AIG Disu Assumes Duty as 55th FCID Annex Boss in Lagos

Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Olatunji Disu has assumed duty as the 55th Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Disu took over from AIG Margaret Ochalla, who is currently attending a short-term professional training programme in the United States, with his deployment taking effect from February 9, 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, FCID Annex, Alagbon, ASP Aminat Mayegun, said the new AIG brings over three decades of operational, investigative and strategic policing experience to the command.

“AIG Disu is a seasoned officer with extensive experience in operational, investigative and strategic policing, having served in various leadership capacities across the country,” Mayegun said.

A native of Lagos State, Disu holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from Lagos State University, multiple Master’s degrees in Public Administration and Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology, as well as an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation.

He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 and has served in key leadership roles nationwide, including Commander of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad, Head of the Intelligence Response Team, Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory, and AIG in charge of the Special Protection Unit.

According to the statement, his leadership of the Rapid Response Squad between 2015 and 2021 earned national and regional recognition for urban crime control and operational excellence.

Speaking on assumption of duty, Disu expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the confidence reposed in him.

“I am excited to be in Lagos and I appreciate the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, for counting me worthy of this opportunity to serve in this capacity,” he said.

The new FCID Annex chief pledged a zero-tolerance stance on corruption and promised to strengthen the department’s operational and investigative capacity, while calling on stakeholders, sister security agencies and the public to support the police in combating crime and promoting justice.
