The Lagos State Branch of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has distanced itself from the recently conducted Trade Union Congress (TUC) Delegates Election, describing it as flawed and inconsistent with constitutional provisions.
This position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Special Emergency Delegates Conference of the association, held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Combo Hall 1, Lagos Television (LTV 8) premises, Ikeja.
The conference, after extensive deliberations, strongly condemned the role of Comrade Abiodun Aladetan, a non-financial member, who it alleged was illegally declared Chairman in breach of the Electoral Guidelines issued by the TUC.
It described the declaration as a source of shame and embarrassment to the Lagos Branch of ASCSN and demanded his immediate redeployment from the branch.
Furthermore, the conference announced its full endorsement of Comrade Olusegun Balogun as the qualified candidate for the TUC Chairmanship position, stating that his candidacy aligns with the constitution and guidelines of the union.
The communiqué also advised the TUC leadership to ensure strict adherence to constitutional provisions and electoral rules in future exercises to safeguard the integrity of the organisation.
It urged the National Secretariat to take immediate action to enforce the resolutions reached at the conference.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Comrade Olusegun Balogun, Chairman, ASCSN Lagos State Branch; Comrade Jimoh Monsuru, Representative of the Delegates; and Comrade Olusegun Kadiri, Coordinator of the Delegate Conference.
