The Enugu State Police Command has sustained its offensive against criminal activities during the yuletide season with the arrest of a suspected armed robber and the recovery of an imitation firearm and ammunition in Enugu metropolis.
The suspect, Oshim Lambert Chimuanya (28), was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. on December 13, 2025, while attempting to rob members of the public around Agric Bank Bus Stop, Independence Layout, Enugu.
His arrest followed a swift response to a distress call by operatives attached to the Independence Layout Police Division.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said operatives arrived at the scene and apprehended the suspect in the act of robbing an unsuspecting young man.
He added that a revolver imitation (toy) pistol loaded with eight toy bullets was recovered from the suspect.
Ndukwe noted that the suspect is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa has charged operatives of the Command to sustain the tempo and ensure that Enugu State remains hostile to unrepentant criminals during the festive period and beyond.
He also urged residents to continue to support the police by providing timely and credible information capable of enhancing crime prevention and detection.
