The Lagos State Government has published a list of 176 illegal estate developments across the state, particularly concentrated in the Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe corridors, giving their developers a 21-day ultimatum to regularize their status by submitting layout approval documents.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affair, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mukaila Sanusi.
According to the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Oluwole Sotire, the estates were flagged for operating without the necessary layout approvals from the Ministry, thereby undermining the principles of sustainable urban development and the State’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda.
“The identified illegal estates include Adron Homes, Elerangbe; Aina Gold Estate, Okun-Folu; Diamond Estate, Eputu; Prime Water View Garden, Ikate Elegushi; and Royal View Estate, Ikota, among others,” Sotire said.
He further stated that developers of these estates have 21 days to submit the required documents to the Ministry at the Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja, to begin the approval process.
This regulatory action, he noted, is part of the Ministry’s mandate to ensure that public and private estate development aligns with the vision of an organised, resilient, and smart city.
Sotire also reiterated the necessity for developers and real estate practitioners to register with the Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), the agency responsible for coordinating and monitoring real estate practices across the state.
The move signals the State Government’s commitment to curbing unregulated urban sprawl and ensuring compliance in the real estate sector.
