The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting innovation, creativity, and enterprise development among young people as a key pathway to sustainable wealth creation and economic growth.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, stated this during the StartRight Lagos Entrepreneurship Boot Camp held over the weekend at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja. Ajigbotafe was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lolade Aina.
The Boot Camp is a continuation of the StartRight Lagos Entrepreneurship Programme, an initiative launched by the Ministry to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with practical business skills, mentorship, and exposure to build viable and competitive enterprises.
Commending the participants for their enthusiasm, Ajigbotafe described them as active contributors to the State’s vision of a Greater Lagos. He explained that the initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s focus on empowering residents through capacity building, innovation, and enterprise support.
“Our goal is to raise a new generation of business-minded Lagosians who will not only create wealth for themselves but also generate opportunities for others,” Ajigbotafe said. “Through initiatives like StartRight Lagos, we are providing young people with the tools, mentorship, and access they need to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment.”
He reaffirmed that the Ministry remains committed to supporting youth-led enterprises across all sectors, noting that entrepreneurship is a major driver of Lagos State’s economic resilience and long-term prosperity.
“Lagos is a land of opportunities, and the Government will continue to create the right environment where innovation and hard work are rewarded. Empowering our youth is the most sustainable way to secure the future of our economy,” he added.
The Commissioner also appreciated the facilitators, partners, and resource persons whose collaboration, he said, has strengthened the impact of the StartRight Lagos programme. He urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to develop sustainable businesses that contribute to the state’s economic growth.
One of the key speakers at the event, Mrs. Amara Agbim, Founder and CEO of The Nanny Academy Lagos—the first formal training and certification institution for nannies, housekeepers, and caregivers in Nigeria—shared her entrepreneurial journey and insights on building a successful brand in a niche industry.
The StartRight Lagos Entrepreneurship Boot Camp forms part of the State Government’s broader efforts to promote youth empowerment, reduce unemployment, and build a thriving innovation and enterprise ecosystem across Lagos.
